“Newsday” Covers Adelphi’s Creative Cups Auction

by Amanda Hayman '17

For the second year in a row, Sienna Leaver and her mother Heather from Huntington Station, New York, will be designing a bra for the Creative Cups auction at Adelphi University to raise money for the Adelphi NY Statewide Breast Cancer Hotline and Support Program.

Last year, 200 bras were auctioned off and $75,000 was raised for the fight against breast cancer.

Sienna, who loves to create art, made a butterfly-themed bra last year that sold for $200. This year she will use the theme of a little girl playing with dandelions as her inspiration.

“We’re going to use blue sparkly fabric and a velvety green color and put jewels on it,” Sienna told Newsday. “I would like to help charity and stop breast cancer by doing the project.”
