Creative Arts Therapy for Mental Health Practitioners

Engage through Art Therapy with Lucy Barbera, Ph.D., LCAT

Learn more about receiving your Postgraduate Certificate Program in Creative Arts Therapy for Mental Health Professionals.

6 CE and 6 NYS OASAS clock hours

Cost: $85.00

Creativity is within everyone’s reach. Experience how easy it is to access your own creativity and infuse it in your practice. Unmotivated clients? Clients resistant to change? Clients who loop through the same counterproductive patterns? Many clients often find it difficult to access their true feelings (and power) by using just words alone. The Creative Arts provide a dynamic language for communication and a catalyst that gives the client full control to identify, explore and address past and current issues non-verbally. This introduction to the therapeutic facilitation and utilization of Creative Arts Therapy for Mental Health Practitioners will provide participants with an introduction to the Person-Centered  approach to Creative Art Therapy and allow experiential hands-on participation and discussion of application with diverse populations. Absolutely no prior art experience is necessary.

The training will include:

  • opportunities to experience the therapeutic value and unique language of the creative arts for yourself.
  • learning about the interdisciplinary theoretical framework of Creative Arts Therapy and how to integrate and apply its methods and its empowering creative arts activity into your practice with individuals and groups to foster growth, change and healing.

There is no accommodation in the State regulations for late arrival, late return from lunch or breaks, or early departure. According to NYSED, in order to award social work CEs; “When you offer a multi-day or multi-part course/educational activity, the learner must complete all parts in order to earn the certificate for contact hours, in the same way that a student must complete a semester-long course to receive college credit. You may not award partial credit for a program, even a one-day program, if the learner does not complete all requirements at that time.”
