Adelphi and Albany College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences Announce a Joint Admission Program

Starting in Fall 2020, undergraduate students at Adelphi who want to become pharmacists will have a direct career path through a new joint program with Albany College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences (ACPHS). Under the partnership, students will be able to earn their bachelor’s and doctoral degrees in seven years or less.

Students enrolled in the program will have two options: They can complete both degrees in seven years of full-time equivalent study (three years at Adelphi and four years at ACPHS). Or, if accepted, they can earn both degrees in only six years (three years at Adelphi, three years at ACPHS) by choosing the accelerated track through the ACPHS Doctor of Pharmacy program, offered at its satellite campus in Colchester, Vermont.

“This new affiliation agreement provides the perfect opportunity for students to experience a true liberal arts education at Adelphi University and receive a bachelor’s degree in biology, then earn a professional degree in a rapidly growing, dynamic and critical health-related field from the Albany College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences,” said Robert Schwartz, EdD, director of Adelphi’s Office of Pre-Professional Advising and Fellowships.

ACPHS will reserve 10 positions in each academic year for qualified Adelphi students to participate in the program. Enrolled students will make a formal application to ACPHS by December 1 in the fall semester of their third year at Adelphi.

“We are excited to begin this collaborative journey, and we look forward to welcoming Adelphi University students to the ACPHS Doctor of Pharmacy program in 2020,” said Anuja Ghorpade, interim dean and vice president, Academic Affairs at Albany College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences.
