The Adelphi NY Statewide Breast Cancer Hotline & Support Program announces the appointment of three new board members: Neil Tanna of Manhasset, Pilar Martin of Queens and Debra Langendorff of East Rockaway.
Dr. Neil Tanna is Associate Program Director of Plastic Surgery at Northwell Health, Medical Director of the Northwell Health Syosset SurgiCenter, and a member of the Katz Institute for Women’s Health. He also serves as Professor of Surgery at Hofstra University School of Medicine where he is engaged in educating plastic surgeons. Dr. Tanna is a double board-certified plastic surgeon with expertise in aesthetic and reconstructive breast surgery. He has extensive experience in breast reconstruction procedures. He is one of a small number of plastic surgeons who is formally trained in several disciplines, including plastic and reconstructive surgery and microvascular surgery. His work has been published in over 100 peer-reviewed articles in prestigious medical journals. He has been invited to present at over 100 national and international scientific meetings. Dr. Tanna is an active member of the American Society of Plastic Surgeons, the American Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgery, and the American College of Surgeons.
Dr. Pilar Martin is the Director of the Masters of Public Health Program at Adelphi University, College of Nursing and Public Health. Dr. Martin received her MD from Complutense University Medical School in Madrid, Spain, and specialized in
Family Medicine, and Preventive Medicine, and Public Health. She practiced as a family physician in Spain for several years and later worked at the Madrid Department of Health and Ministry of Health for 14 years, where she solidified her commitment to Public Health. Dr. Martin obtained a Masters of Public Health from Glasgow University in the United Kingdom and a Masters in Health Services Administration at Florida International University, Miami. In the US, before starting working in academia, she worked for several years in the Miami Dade County Department of Health.
Ms. Debra Langendorff is a 14-year breast cancer survivor. Having had breast cancer gives her a special insight into the needs of those diagnosed with the disease. She is a volunteer with the Adelphi Breast Cancer Program, answering the hotline and presenting at outreach events. Ms. Langendorff earned her undergraduate degree in Elementary Education from Boston University and a Master of Science Degree in Special Education from Adelphi University. For many years she worked as a Special Education teacher, serving the needs of children with disabilities. Ms. Langendorff works at Masterpiece Printers as an executive assistant. She also volunteers as corresponding secretary at her synagogue.
