AU2GO Gets Update to Celebrate National Coming Out Day

by Aaron Hoberman

In honor of National Coming Out Day, we’ve rolled out a new update (version 4.5) to our mobile app, AU2GO, to further support diversity and inclusion on-campus.

National Coming Out Day is celebrated at colleges and universities across the country, including here at Adelphi. This day is a day not only for LGBTQ+ individuals to come out if they choose, but also a day for allies to publicly declare their support for members of the LGBTQ+ community.

Behind this is a brand new diversity and inclusion tile, at the top of the screen, which highlights many LGBTQ+ resources on campus including information about our:

Adam Visconti, a member of the LGBTQ and Allies Committee and chair of LGBTQ+ Task Force said, “The new Diversity and Inclusion tile on AU2GO is a great symbol of support from the University. We all know that sense of belonging and engagement are crucial for student success, and the AU2GO app now provides direct connections for students, faculty, and staff to seek out LGBTQ+ resources. It’s our hope that we can continue to develop this tile to connect other diverse people to the resources available to them. This tile is another way that diverse members of our community can see that they matter, they are valued, and they can get involved.”

This in another step toward our goal to support the inclusion and acceptance of all students, faculty and staff. We take pride in how we’ve improved our Campus Pride Index, and all our athletes have taken a pledge to be more inclusive.

Moving forward, the diversity and inclusion tile on AU2GO will continue to add more personalized resources for individuals of all faiths, religions, cultures, sexual orientation, race and ethnicities so that you always feel comfortable with who you are.
