Garden City, NY — On Tuesday, July 8 at 10:00 AM, the Adelphi NY Statewide Breast Cancer Hotline & Support Program will host an in-person creative forum designed to offer participants a calming, meaningful outlet through art.
Titled “Seas the Day” as a playful nod to the upcoming summer months, the forum invites participants to embrace the season by finding new ways to unwind. During this 90-minute session, attendees will embark on a creative journey using a variety of artistic techniques and mediums designed to foster mindfulness and promote relaxation. Participants will have the opportunity to create their own unique masterpieces while building connections within the community.
The session will be facilitated by Angela M. Papalia, LMSW, Assistant Director of the Adelphi Breast Cancer Program, and Kim Newman, BFA, Marketing and Communications Coordinator at the program.
“Art has a way of helping people relax and nurturing their inner creativity,” said Newman, an artist herself. “Whether you’re a seasoned artist or haven’t picked up a paintbrush since childhood, this forum offers a welcoming environment to reconnect with yourself and others.”
“Finding or reconnecting with a hobby after a breast cancer diagnosis can give patients and survivors a sense of self that sometimes gets lost,” added Papalia. “This forum aims to help both patients and caregivers rediscover their self-expression in a safe, supportive space.”
This free event is open to breast cancer survivors and caregivers. Registration is required and space is limited. Once registered, participants will receive a confirmation email with the event’s on-campus location. All art supplies will be provided.
To register, visit the online registration form or call 516.877.4320.
