Adelphi’s 27th Annual Golf Classic Honoree

Pat Santoro emigrated from Italy in 1966 when he was 10 years old. The oldest of six children, he did not speak any English. In 1975, he was the first in his extended family to attend college. He earned a degree in applied science with a major in electrical technology.

After graduating, he was recruited by a small upstart telephone company, and the rest is history. Pat ascended the ranks, ultimately becoming president of the Telecommunication Division at IBEW Local 25. In 1987, he started Com-Bell Systems. This year, the company is celebrating its 28th year in business.

Com-Bell Systems has installed structured wiring systems for many institutions, including Adelphi University (whose relationship began 36 years ago), Hofstra University, Canon USA, and Broadridge. Com-Bell Systems also did all of the wiring for the 2008 and 2012 Presidential Debates that were held at Hofstra University.

Pat has been a member of National Electrical Contractors Association since 1995 and currently serves as its treasurer. He is also a trustee on the NECA/IBEW LU25 Health Fund. He served as a teacher at the IBEW LU25 Training facility as a DC theory instructor.

He and his wife Maryellen have been married for 36 years. They have three wonderful children, Jennifer, Janine and Meaghan; a granddaughter; Kaitlin; and a son-in-law, David. Pat enjoys spending time with his family, playing golf, basketball and all other sports. He enjoys traveling and considers himself lucky to have visited many places, including returning back to where it started, Italy. Pat said that he is proof that the American dream works, and that if you work hard good things can happen.
