On January 16, Adelphi President Christine M. Riordan was awarded the 2020 ATHENA Leadership Award at a special ceremony hosted by KPMG and ATHENA International at The Mansion at Oyster Bay.
ATHENA International is a nonprofit organization that develops, supports and honors women leaders, inspires them to reach their full potential, and strives to create balance in leadership worldwide.
The awards are presented annually to women who display professional excellence and community service, and who actively assist women in achieving professional excellence and leadership skills.
“I thank Athena International for this incredibly meaningful honor,” said President Riordan. “I am truly humbled to be in the company of such remarkable people—all strong leaders and trailblazers. Congratulations to my fellow 2020 nominees and to Sadia Mehmood of the Mary McDowell Friends School on your Young Professional Leadership Award! You are all inspiring women leaders and role models.”
In 2019, Stephanie Espina, director of undergraduate admissions at Adelphi, won the ATHENA Young Professional Leadership Award; Kristen Capezza, MBA ’12, vice president for enrollment management and University communications, won it in 2017.
