Professor Patrice’s Travel Writing Course in Florence

Adjunct Professor Libra PatriceMeet Libra Patrice, Ph.D., an adjunct professor in Adelphi’s Ruth Ammon School of Education, who spent this summer in Italy teaching a travel writing course at Lorenzo de’ Medici, a university in Florence that also happens to be a favorite study abroad destination for Adelphi students. The Center for International Education caught up with Dr. Patrice and here’s what she had to say about her summer in Florence.

“I have students from all over the world, as well as all over the U.S….Travel writing allows me to introduce students to the genre and to some great travel writing literature. The course does so while heightening students’ observational, analytical and critical skills, as they gain more of an understanding of Italian culture and develop their writing skills through guided exercises. I take them on a few field trips throughout the city, and they also document those experiences in order to produce pieces of travel writing.”

These students are lucky to have you, Dr. Patrice. Buona lezione!
