During International Education Week, Adelphi showcases the images captured by our student travelers in our Study Abroad Photo Contest.
This year’s 15 finalists were chosen from more than 80 photo submissions from Adelphi students participating in study abroad programs around the world during the 2018–2019 academic year, from faculty-led courses in Crete to semester-long programs in South Korea, said Shannon Harrison, director of the Center for International Education. The 15 photos were displayed during the Global Voices event on November 18.
“Study abroad photos capture what students find interesting, beautiful and unique about their host destinations,” Harrison said. “The annual study abroad photo contest enables students to share these vignettes with the Adelphi community.”
Nicolle Chumsky, a senior psychology major, was chosen by the judges as the first-place contest winner for her landscape photo of a bridge entering Tromsø, Norway. The photo was taken during the faculty-led course Northern Lights: Illuminating Norwegian Culture, Environment & School Connections (Tromsø).
Guests at the Global Voices event voted for Danielle Powers as the winner of the People’s Choice Award. The senior environmental studies major captured the image during a weekend trip to Bali while studying for a semester at University of the Sunshine Coast in Australia.
