Join the Adelphi Breast Cancer Program’s Warriors Book Club for the First Read of 2025
On Monday, March 10 at 7 PM, the Adelphi NY Statewide Breast Cancer Hotline & Support Program will convene its Warriors Book Club meeting over Zoom to discuss Marika’s Best Laid Plan, a story about the power of connection and hope, by Judy V. Stanigar, who will be joining the discussion at the meeting along with Stephanie Rabell of Book and Wine Lovers Marketing. This virtual meeting provides those touched by breast cancer an opportunity to come together and connect with other patients and survivors from across New York State.
Here’s what some book club participants had to say about their experience:
I recently joined the Warriors Book Club. I enjoy reading and sharing my interpretation of the book and listening to others’ perspectives. It gives me insight into others’ interpretations, opinions, and emotions. Additionally, I get to interact with the other readers!
-Janet S.
I think it is a great idea for breast cancer survivors to be part of the book club. It is a way of setting a goal for one’s self and achieving it before the next meeting comes around. It is also a very pleasant distraction from the boring, post-op, post-chemo days and it’s so interesting to hear what others thought about the book. Reading a good book transports us to another place, perhaps a more interesting one than where we presently find ourselves. I hope more patients and volunteers will join us in the future!
-Kate C.
When the Adelphi Hotline said they were going to start a book club, I was thrilled. I enjoy reading, and I am always walking around with a book. This was a great opportunity to do something I enjoy and share it with my fellow volunteers. Usually, when we meet, we talk about topics related to breast cancer. This gives us a forum to discuss other topics and get to know each other outside of our common diagnosis.
-Samantha C.
