Join the Adelphi Breast Cancer Program’s Warriors Book Club on April 28
The Warriors Book Club, Adelphi NY Statewide Breast Cancer Hotline & Support Program’s free virtual book club for those affected by breast cancer, will meet over Zoom on Monday, April 28 at 7 PM to discuss the book The Many Lives of Mama Love: A Memoir of Lying, Stealing, Writing, and Healing by Lara Love Hardin.
The book by New York Times bestselling author Lara Love Hardin, an Oprah’s Book Club Pick, is a moving memoir that delves into the complexities of addiction and the journey of healing and recovery. In this harrowing, hilarious, no-holds-barred memoir, Hardin recounts her slide from soccer mom to opioid addict to jailhouse shot caller and her unlikely comeback as a highly successful ghostwriter.
This one-hour meeting provides community and connection to those touched by breast cancer. It offers participants an opportunity to come together virtually with other patients and survivors from Long Island and across New York State.
“I had always wanted to join a book club, so when the Warriors Book Club came about, I was eager to join. It gave me the opportunity to get to know some of the women who are currently receiving treatment, as well as some of the other volunteers that I hadn’t met previously,” said Kate C., a book club member since inception.
“We’ve heard from many participants what the Warriors Book Club has meant to them and how instrumental connecting with other patients and survivors has been to their recovery,” said Nina Foley, LCSW, Adelphi’s Volunteer and Hotline Supervisor. “Many of our volunteers participate in it, and we’re always looking for others to join and connect in this virtual community event,” she said.
