Breast cancer can cause many feelings to emerge, such as shock, confusion, fear, sadness, anger and uncertainty. Our support groups provide the opportunity for participants to share their feelings and experiences with the guidance of social workers and social work interns.

SUPPORT OUR PROGRAM – EAT A BAGEL IN OCTOBER
The month-long Panera Pink Ribbon Bagel campaign officially kicks off on October 1 with the Power of Pink Day in which 100 percent of the proceeds from sales of Panera Bread’s Pink Ribbon Bagel will be donated to three local breast cancer charities: Adelphi NY Statewide Breast Cancer Hotline & Support Program, Huntington Breast Cancer Action Coalition and The Breast Cancer Research Program at Cold Spring Harbor Research Laboratory. Throughout the remainder of the month, a portion of proceeds from sales will go towards these programs.

THE FOURTH ANNUAL BREAST CANCER SUMMIT
The event will focus on the patient education process and the latest developments in detection, treatment and instruction. The fourth annual breast cancer summit will have Keynote Speaker Fran Drescher. Breakfast and admission are complimentary but seating is limited.

PAWS OF SILENCE AND HUMAN RIBBON
Wear pink to gather for a moment of silence and form a human ribbon.
Where: Levermore Lawn, Adelphi University
When: Wednesday, October 15
Time: 1:45–2:30 p.m.
Human Ribbon will form at 2:00 p.m. SHARP to show our support for breast cancer research. All in attendance will pause for a moment of silence to acknowledge the lives of those who have passed, survivors, and those currently diagnosed. Directly after the Paws of Silence, we will form a human ribbon on the lawn between Levermore Hall and the University Center.
This event is open to all members of the Adelphi community, and pre-registration is required. We ask Adelphi faculty and staff to support breast cancer awareness with a $5 donation in addition to their participation.
