Adelphi Breast Cancer Program Receives Grant from Manhasset Junior Coalition

The Manhasset Junior Coalition, class of 2026, presented a check for $10,000 to the Adelphi Breast Cancer Hotline & Support Program to fund the breast cancer program’s free educational forums.

The Junior Coalition of the Manhasset Women’s Coalition Against Breast Cancer was formed in 2002 as a charitable organization for Manhasset teenagers to educate and to raise money for breast cancer research and patient support programs.

This year’s grant will be utilized towards educational forums which focus on medical, psychosocial and wellness topics and are facilitated by experts in various fields of practice. Forums held over ZOOM include live Spanish-language interpretation reaching a broad audience and the many patients the Adelphi program serves. An upcoming educational forum on Monday, April 24th at 4 pm, will be an intimate panel discussion with couples and how they navigated their spouses breast cancer experience.

“It is the honor of the Junior Coalition of the Manhasset Women’s Coalition Against Breast Cancer to continue its support of the Adelphi NY Statewide Breast Cancer Hotline & Support Program,” says Kristin Stevens, VP, Manhasset Women’s Coalition. “Having our Junior Coalition girls see their fundraising efforts translating into a grant for an organization as admirable and well-run as Adelphi really helps to drive home the mission we all share–to be there for women and families dealing with breast cancer. Support takes many forms and we look forward to paying it forward with Adelphi for many years to come!”

Adelphi Program Director Reyna Machado says she continues to be in awe of these young women and the impact they make. “They volunteer at the MWCABC annual 5K, fundraise, and plant flowers outside the homes of women undergoing treatment for breast cancer. Their commitment sets them apart as true leaders in the community.”
